I think Tim was mocking your use of correlation to make a causal claim.  I don't think he believes that all the schools that switched to Parli or ended debate did so because of non topical teams any more than I think you really believe that all the schools that switched to Parli or ended debate did so because of narrow topics.
 
 
Of course I could be wrong.
